Watering Disabled?

I didn’t even know they could water? Much less disable it? This sensor has been in the same spot for over 6 months. All of them are “Low Accuracy”, “Need Calibration”, “Watering Past Due” (after I water), “quality of reading”, “not making contact”. I’ve got a 4th one I never installed. It’s always something. When is the AI model ever going to learn? It’s been 3 years. I’m beginning to wonder. How could this ever integrate with a sprinkler system to make smart decision. Sorry, rant over.

Hi @ebelew

Looking into your setup, the rest of your installed sensors are actually reading normally. The “low accuracy” warning is just this single device.

Based on the recommendation in the Care Center,

  1. Try “Set Max Moisture” first. (Note: if it doesn’t improve, this low accuracy warning will appear again)
  2. If that doesn’t fix it, then it is best to re-install and trigger "Learn Soil Profile"
    • Pull the sensor up and re-install it in undisturbed soil following the in-app instructions, then select Learn Soil Profile in the app.

Why a 6-Month-Old Install Can Still Have Loose Contact

It feels counterintuitive, but a device sitting in the same spot for months isn’t guaranteed a solid contact. Soil is constantly moving. Heavy rain, deep drying, and thermal cycles cause dirt to shift and pull away from the probe face.

While our AI model tries to auto-correct based on your established profile within certain limits, when the data is too far off, recalibrating or re-installing is the best way to fix the issue.

thanks,

Leon

I bought the Rachio system in anticipation of this integration. But it looks it does a pretty good job by itself.
