I am getting notifications that watering is past due on one of my sensors. Yet the sensor shows above my 50% parameter at that level? When will it update?

Hi @ebelew,

You are right that the Past Due flag should not be showing since your moisture level is above 50%. I have flagged this for our engineering team to investigate why the group status is out of sync.

Please try a quick pull down refresh on the app screen to see if that clears it. In the meantime, I will update you as soon as I hear back from the team.

Best,

Hi @ebelew ,

I just wanted to give you an update as there was a bug to the notification behavior that has since been fixed. I just wanted to check if they are showing up properly now, especially after doing a pull-down refresh.

It looks ok, although my moisture reading has dropped to 39% in past few days. We’re supposed to get a lot of rain this weekend and next week, so I’ll know more when the reading gets above 50% then.

Thank You

Hi @ebelew,

Just a quick tip as you wait for that rain. If the status does not clear as expected once the soil is wet, you can always use the **Set Max Moisture** button.

The best time to do this is immediately after the rain stops or following a thorough sprinkler session. This tells the AI that the soil is at **100 percent saturation** , which recalibrates the moisture curve and should clear the **Watering Past Due** flag.

We had 2+ inches of rain these past few days. The sensor all increase in % and the watering message went away on the one sensor. I did go in and reset them to 100% and we will wait to see when they update to that.

I tried to reset to 100% and it didn’t update. We got rain last night so I tried to reset to 100%. It’s still not updated to 100% on my app yet.

Hi @ebelew ,

If they are wet from recent rain or watering event, please press “Set Max Moisture”. (see 3.2.6 of [🔧 Essential Setup, Usage & Maintenance Tips](https://geodrops.discourse.group/t/essential-setup-usage-maintenance-tips/56) for more details)

I pressed (tried to reset) 3 times and I don’t think it’s reset. That was 2 days ago and the percentage and lowered. It never went to 100%

Hi @ebelew

Setting Max moisture doesn’t necessarily set the moisture to 100% at the moment it was set like a thermostat. For our AI the setting is an instruction to tell it that this when the the soil is likely saturated enough to be used as reference for moisture capacity. So there is no need to worry that you don’t see 100% right after you set the max moisture. In fact the AI will adjust it as it continues to monitor the soil if it sees the soil getting wetter than before.

Your devices are generally fine from what we are seeing. Although for _“Front East Soil Sensor”_, it seems to behave a little differently. I just want to make sure it is installed and water the same way the other two devices or if we should look into this further.

Thank you for supporting us!

This is not the first time for me to Set Max Moisture. When I first installed them I did this and they went to100%. So now when I set Max Moisture there “could be” no visual feedback to the user that this is set. In fact the AI could increase that if it monitors and sees and increase above what I set it at? Then why give me that option at all?

So if I set my soil moisture target on the 2.5" at 50% and “Set Max Moisture” doesn’t visually change for me. Where is the moisture target related. Visual on my screen or the AI reset that I don’t see?

Front East Soil Sensor is on more of a grade and drains better. Back West Soil Sensor is in a higher spot and drains better. Back East Soil Sensor is in a lower spot that does not drain well or as fast, but seems to read closely to the Back West Sensor. They all get the same amount of rain or watering. Approx. 1-1.5 inches per week.

We had around 1 inch of rain last week and are due to get, at least, that in the next couple of days.

We have briefly discussed this, and @homedigy-lawrence is running behind. He will respond when he’s able to, but I can assure that we are working on improving this (specifically how it works, or explaining how it works).

Hi @ebelew - Sorry for the slow reply.

There are several things I want to let you know.

1. **New Software:** First, we just released a new App and Cloud AI software a few days ago with many bug fixes. Can you let us know if things are working out for you right now?

2. **New AI Model behavior:** We have now changed “Max Moisture” calibration to set the saturated moisture value to approximately 96~98% (instead of flat 100%). This allows us some “buffer” to measure and track over-saturation (where the soil expands further, and is measurable by the GeoDrops sensor probes).

3. **Known Bug:** There’s currently still a known bug in our AI model during daily AI Training, where “Max Moisture” calibration fails to correctly transition from the old Field Capacity value to the new user-calibrated Field Capacity value. This bug is extremely hard to track down and reproduce, but we’re aware that the bug is there, and has been causing “Max Moisture Calibration Failed” messages to be generated, when it’s clearly a problem with our AI Model bug and not user error.

Please let me know if this answers your questions and if it helps?

Thanks,
Lawrence
