As my sensor data is stored on the cloud, is there an API where I can access my data (ONLY my data) so that I can view the data that I want to see on my desktop computer. I find the phone screen too small for all the data you choose to display, in the manner you display.
I already have an Ambient weather station, so seeing weather data on GeoDrops is not useful to me. I realize it may be useful to others.
What would help me is to have access to my data, and write my own display, showing the data I want to see – and integrating it with the data I already have from my weather station.
You will recall that from my initial engagement as a Beta tester (since June 2023) I have asked about a web interface so that I could see the data on a bigger screen.
Hi Marsha,
We haven’t forgotten those requests, and they are still on our roadmap. I’ll let the engineering team respond further when they have the chance, but I believe the API will be available before the desktop app and data export. I don’t have the exact timelines at the moment, so I’ll let engineering to answer further too.
Thanks again for your support. Your finger tests played an important role in finetuning GeoDrops Cloud’s capabilities.

Hi Marsha,
We’ve been chatting more about this internally.
I have a proposal, would love to hear what you think:
- Having a web interface to show sensor data (and allow people to download sensor data) is actually not hard
- What’s hard is actually security and authentication, since we have less control over a website
And so… here’s a possible proposal:
- Are you ok if we make your device’s sensor data public, so everyone can see your sensor data?
- If yes, we’re actually in the middle of building a public dashboard. We can actually include your device (and anyone else’s as long as they authorize us to make their sensor data public) on that public dashboard. You (and anyone) will be able to download the raw sensor data as CSV spreadsheet via that link.
Please let me know if this would work for you?
Thanks,
Lawrence
ps - The dashboard will only have limited date range (approx 4 weeks or so) similar to the App.
pps - We still need to work on and figure out a longer term solution to allow people to download historic data dating back further. Our goal is to allow everyone to download data up to from 1 year ago
Sorry for the “late” response. I don’t visit this site often (I found the Facebook page much more useful, as I check FB at least once a day.)
To answer your question, I do not object to the device’s sensor data being public – PROVIDED that it does not identify me. As long as you use the sensor’s serial number, or the alias I assign to it, I am okay with the data being public. But no one should be able to associated the data with me.
Again, as long as you protect MY identity, you can make the sensor data publiv.
Thanks Marsha, I think we have a path forward. We’ll only show the device serial number.
