I have clay/loam soil and I selected clay. I was wondering whether or not I should have picked loam. Would appreciate any guidance.
Hi @rodney ,
While your selection helps our categorization, GeoDrops AI is able to figure out whether there’s a mismatch between what you selected vs. what you actually have.
Hope this helps,

Is there something you are seeing that seems inaccurate to you? As @homedigy-stanley had pointed out the AI will build a profile of the soil regardless of what you picked. If you feel that the sensor is taking a while to adjust to the soil you can always set it to Loam and manually trigger re-learn.
Somewhat. I was wondering if picking clay makes it appear to have more moisture than if it were loam. I did a manual tester and roughly measured on the 7 dash between green and blue which is somewhat close because the geodrop measures 85% and 91% at another geodrop.
It makes me wonder if challenges with my lawn have less to do with moisture and more to do with other factors that I’ve yet to figure out yet.
Hi @rodney ,
Good to hear that your manual test was close to the GeoDrop readings. Tracking results over time should help see if other conditions are affecting your lawn.

Hi @rodney,
Is everything resolved for now? Just checking to see if we can close this ticket.

Yes you can close this ticket
For reference, I think using geodrops has made me realize I don’t have a watering problem but a soil compaction problem which was probably exacerbated by the fact that my Rachio was watering too much.
Good to hear @rodney .
I believe I have answered this on other threads but we will have more updates soon regarding watering guidelines. Stay tuned.
