Ideal Depth Guidance

Hi Geodrop Crew

I got my geodrops today. Yay. I’m in Colorado and this point in the year the soil is a rock so trying a few different install techniques. Question for you though is the ideal Depth to set the Geodrop at the bottom plane of the large head piece flush with soil just below thatch layer (for turf grass install). I’m trying to decide how to balance tripping hazard and thatch overgrowth and or inaccurate readings if water is allowed to pool in any way. Loamy soil, good drainage so pooling is probably less of a concern than kids tripping. Thoughts?

Hi @Ngiac ,

I’ll defer to engineering to answer the rest of the questions (specifically your concern about balancing between tripping hazard, thatch overgrowth, and inaccurate readings). If your soil is rock hard, one thing that may work would be melting a couple of ice cubes on top to soften up the soil. In terms of the installation, GeoDrops is designed to be installed flush with the soil.

Hope this helps,

Flush with soil, copy that. With thatch and grass thickness should put this in pretty good elevation to not be a tripping hazard.

I’ll take my time on the rest of them and drip to soften the soil deep, but after the long wait I had to get it in the ground to play with it!

Hi @Ngiac ,

Are things working out now? Just reaching out to see we can close the thread.
