I installed a 2025 production unit in August, and used alkaline batteries. About four days ago, the device went off-line, but showed the batteries as “good” with 1.4 volts. That seemed like a strange combination to me. I changed the batteries – but wonder why the batteries only lasted less than 3 months? Other alkaline batteries have lasted nine months.
Why didn’t I get a notice of “low battery”? I thought that was a feature.
Is this battery drainage in any way related to the latest set of updates??? Did the updates trigger an excessive amount of activity with the individual sensors??
After installing new batteries, the device shows them to be at 1.6 volts.
Now I am getting “slow to update” messages – which I did not get prior to the updates. Is this also related to the latest set of updates?

Hi @mg.marsha.lehman
I have looked over your devices, I believe you were referring to device 337QXN -”P25 Rabbiteye Blueberry”? For that device, it actually did not run out of battery but rather it was not able to connect to the server for more than 24 hours, which is what we qualify for the device being “Offline”. As you probably have noticed that the device had already been sending “Device Slow Update” messages every now and then which indicates difficulty connecting to our server and this is most likely caused by the relatively weak wifi.
The only solution to this other than moving the device closer to the AP is to wait for the device to reconnect which it would eventually. You can also check the battery graph on the app’s Device Information→Battery→History section to help confirm if this is a battery.
For example this is the graph for you device’s battery level. As you can see this the battery level was stable and consistent before you changed your battery. So this should show that this is more likely the device failing to contact the server than out of battery
I hope this helps

Hi @mg.marsha.lehman ,
Given we haven’t yet heard back, I just wanted to check in with how you’re doing regarding this before we go ahead to close off this thread.
Thanks,

Close the thread. I’ll wait for the “off-line” message to be changed.
