Battery Run Down - Compartment Leak

I put Lithium batteries in my four units hoping to lengthen the time between replacement, but I had one sensor/set go to 0% or not reading since No25. The other three are still at 100%. So, I thought maybe a couple of bad batteries is not out of the question. Well, I pulled that one up and it’s not the batteries fault. Compartment water leak. I thought I had taken such care and cleaned and sealed carefully. I understand how important that O-ring is.

Any suggestions on how to clean the compartment to make sure I get all the dirt and rust out?

Vinegar/Baking powder is my normal go to solution.
