Limited orange line

I have two geodrops and within the last 2 weeks, both are show orange lines in the chart at the top. The legend says “limited” - can you explain what that means and if I need to do anything?

Seems like the devices are working.

Hi Thanh, first of all, welcome to the GeoDrops community!

I see your note about the orange lines on your chart. I am going to look into what that specific “limited” status indicates for your units later today with the engineering team.

I want to make sure I give you the correct explanation before suggesting any next steps, so I will follow up here as soon as I have a clearer picture for you.

Hi @thanh,

The “Limited” status means the sensor is currently having some trouble getting a perfect reading, likely because the soil hasn’t fully settled around the probes yet.

Since the devices are still working, we recommend waiting a few more days. Reinstalling them now would actually reset the sensor’s “Learning” period, which would start the waiting process over again.

We have an app update coming very soon that will provide much clearer explanations for these statuses directly on your dashboard.

Hi Stanley,

Both of those have been in ground since August and haven’t been touched since. Since you mentioned there’s an app update coming soon, I wonder if this is a software problem. I do recall a server outage or some sort of data connection issue recently. Forgive me, I didn’t remember exactly but I was having issues with my app connecting but it was resolved within a day or so.

Now one of my devices is showing red lines. The serial is 336U7V. These readings are odd because it’s usually in the low 90s. Why did the historical data change?

Please advise, should I pull the device out to investigate hardware problems?

Hi @thanh,

Thanks for providing that extra context.

Please hold off on pulling the device for now. We are currently investigating the data shift and the red lines you’re seeing, but we want to finish our internal review before concluding if a physical reinstall is actually necessary.

I’ll get back to you as soon as we have more clarity from the team.

Hi Stanley,

Both of my devices now have a “Max moisture renewal required” notice. It’s been raining the past couple of days. Should I soak the area around the devices to recalibrate?

Hi @thanh ,

If the soil is already saturated from recent rain, additional soaking isn’t necessary. Please press “Set Max Moisture” as prompted to proceed with the setup.

Hi Stanley,

Setting the max moisture seems to have solved the problem. Both devices are showing green lines now.

Glad to hear that worked, @thanh. I will close this thread now, but please feel free to reach out if anything else comes up as you get started.
