Just an fyi. I have 4 units also in clay soil and they have been asking to relearn max moisture every other week. I relearn and it just asked again. My 4 units in my greenhouse in potting soil are also asking to relearn max moisture every other week. Is AI updates
Hi @Taylordr61 ,
Since I haven’t heard back, is everything working properly now? If so, I will go ahead and close this thread.

Not yet. We are currently traveling so i cannot reset them again for a week but i have reset the max moisture several times already
This is happening to me, too, with one particular unit (serial #3344EK).
As for frequency, it has been happening almost daily. I hit the “set new max moisture” each time, and wait to get the next notification.

No worries. I can let you know that battery wise they usually last less than 1 year and the relearn time aswell as removing from clay soil is very tough. Hence the suggestion on a possible next gen would make it possible to change batteries in the ground. For those homes with multiple access points it will help with attaching to the correct access point and reduce relearn time.
Hi @Taylordr61 ,
I apologize for responding to the wrong message. Regarding your issue, the engineers are taking a closer look and will respond when they have updates.
With regards to the battery compartment design, while I understand the frustration with removing multiple units to replace batteries, the suggested design was actually considered previously before abandoning due to operating environment constraints. The battery replacement timing can be suitable to also clean the battery compartment and service/replace the O-rings.

No worries. I have to pry the units up out of the lawn with a shovel due to the “T” shaped tabs on the bottom. It might be easier if they were straight up to the top.
Use a long flathead screwdriver to loosen / pry the drop out of the soil then lift with your hands…very simple
I have very dense clay soil and ttf grass which really grabs the sensor and will not ket go.
Ahhhh, I get it…that sucks
Be careful and good luck with replacing the batteries and getting them back and running
Same for me. The last week or so, one of mine will tell me to set max moisture. I go through the process and wait a few days. Same thing. And only on this one.
Ditto. I have 2 that keep doing it. Perhaps because they both are installed on a slope so the top sensor is drying out faster than the other two and the AI model flags that as aberrant behavior?
Hi @Taylordr61 ,
The engineering team just reviewed your unit and they will respond with more information shortly. Btw, was the affected unit removed from soil?
If the GeoDrops Droplet was installed in soil for the first time, the app will ask for “Set Max Moisture” when it’s ready. That being said, if you can include the serial number(s) where this is problematic, I can flag this to be reviewed to see if there’s something else going on.

Hi @piratemonkey ,
Removing the Droplet from the soil after months of curing is intended to be challenging given this is required for proper reading. You were correct to use a long flathead screwdriver to pry the unit between the probes straight up like this video.
Doing it otherwise may risk breaking the device. We will be adding this to the 🔧 Essential Setup, Usage & Maintenance Tips post soon.
Thanks,

Hi All
This is an issue being worked on and it is mostly fixed at this point with a couple of devices with unusual edge cases. Please let us know if you think you are still running into this problem
Sorry for the confusion and inconvenience

Some of them. I think i replaced the batteries in 5 of the 8 units and all of then have asked to set moisture max
The unit has never been moved/removed since initial installation. Even tonight asking that I set max moisture. And I did.
337KYE is the serial number
Do we have to reset max moisture again to solve the issue
Hi @Taylordr61
I went through your fleet of devices. Here is an overview.
1 front yard
The device seems to have been taken out of soil and reinstalled likely in the same location. This can be seen in the gap in the chart where the blue lines, representing the moisture levels at different depths are cut off. The purple lines are the max moisture capacity.
Whenever you remove the device from soil, it is almost required to use “Relearn Soil Profile” to trigger the AI to relearn soil properties. Otherwise, the AI could take a long time and many retries to re-establish the soil profile. The reinstall itself also looks a little loose, which could be seen but the more erratic and fanned-out blue lines following the re-installation.
Recommendation
If you reinstalled the device at the exact same spot we recommend moving the device to an undisturbed patch about a foot away and hit “Relearn Soil Profile”
4 shed
A similar problem with 1 front yard . It is recommended that you reinstall the device following our guide in an undisturbed patch of the soil and hit “Relearn Soil Profile”
RL
A similar problem with 1 front yard . It is recommended that you reinstall the device following our guide in an undisturbed patch of the soil and hit “Relearn Soil Profile”
2 pool hill
This is one of these strange edge cases that I am still looking into at the moment where notifications are still buggy. It still have same problem with 1 front yard where the device has been reinstalled and the deep water issue is still real.. I would suggest you still at the very least hit “Relearn Soil Profile” again
Thanks for your patience and let us know if this works out for you

I will move them when i get home. Was trying to avoid the relearn with takes several weeks. How about the greenhouse ones. They were installed in fresh soil non clay.
