Any fixes for blinking red light (software) and unable to re-add device after the deletion (due to the software issue? The device has not been used for several months. Thx
Hi Mark,
Can you provide the serial number of the device? It’s inside the battery compartment.
Thanks

Sn is 333-VWW. Thank you.
Hi Mark,
We are still looking into the issue. We think there is a possibility, though not certain that the device may have some moisture build up or leakage. In case that is the issue, can you take out take a look inside the battery compartment, as well as leaving it out to dry for 24 hours before trying it again? We will try to see if we can figure it out on our end in the mean time.
Thanks

No moisture inside that I see. Sat open in case. Batts now reinstalled and still no change.
Hi Mark,
There is likely some hardware issues. There is a trade-in program for beta devices. But before resorting to that let see if we can some how salvage the situation. One thing you can try is a “hard reset”, which can be done by powering on and off the device for around a second multiple times in succession. So essentially all you need to do is to not screw on the battery cap just yet, hold on battery cap and see the LED goes on for about a second, then release the battery cap to turn it off. Do this for about 5 times in succession, then out on the battery cap normally and see if it still has that issue. If it it still doesn’t work then I think you might need to do a trade-in. @homedigy-stanley will help you with the process.
Thank you

Hi Mark,
In terms of the GeoDrops Insider trade-in program, please fill out this form if you haven’t submitted for all the beta devices purchased in 2023 already.
We are still waiting for the majority of USA-bound inventory to arrive the warehouse, and we anticipate fully launching the store shortly before this. We will be reaching out again when we’re ready to have you make a purchase on the store before reimbursing you for the difference as part of the trade-in program.
Please let us know if you have any questions,

Thanks Stanley. What are the main differences b/w the beta and mass produced device? Is it worth the exchange and $ (pending I can get this beta device working)?
Mark
Hi Mark,
This is the Q&A describing the difference between the two versions from the FAQ (source).
What’s the difference between the GeoDrops Droplet 2024 Edition vs. GeoDrops Droplet 2023 edition?
The GeoDrops Droplet 2024 Edition are our Mass Production devices (with part number GDS4xx), while the 2023 Edition are our Beta Production devices (part number GDS3xx).
The GDS4xx and GDS3xx devices share the exact same Edge-AI processor and soil sensor hardware, which means they are fully compatible with all the latest GeoDrops Cloud AI technology software features that we will continue to release, as long as you have an active GeoDrops AI Cloud subscription. (And all Beta Production devices have LIFETIME GeoDrops AI Cloud subscription).
The GeoDrops Droplet 2024 Edition have improvements in mechanical design only. Examples include:
- Wider and stronger sensor probes (the 2023 Edition is already quite tough, but the 2024 Edition will be even tougher)
- Metal screw threads for the battery cap (this will make it less likely for people to over-tighten the screws and break the threads)
- A more prominent O-ring location (this will make it easier to remove the O-ring for cleaning)
Hope this helps,
Stanley
