In early August this device quit updating and I eventually got the notification to reboot it. By the time I got to it the batteries were dead, so I replaced them and went through the installation as if it were a new device. I did put it back into the same hole in the soil, which I have since read is not recommended. Since reinstalling the device, the moisture readings seem suspect, especially the 1.5 inch measurement. Can you verify the readings are inaccurate? Should I move this device to a new location with fresh soil?

From our end the numbers look normal at the moment, can you elaborate on the reasons for your concern about the accuracy of the reading?

After replacing the batteries and reinstalling this device, the 1.5 inch reading “straight lined” from about 8/7 to about 8/19, at which time it seemed to start responding again. However, the shallow and mid levels show higher moisture levels than the deep one, which just seems counterintuitive to me. So I was wondering if this may be due to a bad install after reinstalling it in the same hole after the battery replacement.
Yes, this is a loose install, please help resinstall it in a new locaton at least 6-inch away.
